Project Planner - Defence Programme
Bristol
£30,000

Our client is recruiting on behalf of one of the world's leading producers of defence systems and equipment. They are now looking for a Project Planner to join their dedicated team.

If you're looking to challenge yourself and take on a fast-paced role with an internationally focused business, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop an engaging career.

Now is an especially exciting time to join the business as the company is currently in negotiations to take on ambitious new contracts. You'll have the chance to support the delivery of ambitious projects that are integral to the company's ongoing success.

As a Project Planner, you will co-ordinate and support all aspects of assigned projects, ensuring that they are completed on schedule and within set budgets.

In this important role, you will:

- Produce and maintain resourced, time phased schedules
- Track project progress
- Ensure that schedules are regularly reviewed and altered when required
- Report on project milestones and ensure that any variances to agreed customer dates are communicated
- Provide the Programme Manager with headcount and cost flow forecast information

To be considered, you will need:

- Knowledge and experience of using best practice planning processes and tools in a complex, project environment
- UK Security Clearance or the ability to obtain this (due to the type of projects you'll be working on)
- Excellent IT skills, particularly MS Project and Excel

Analytical and detail-orientated, as a Project Planner, you'll have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with key stakeholders in a multi-functional environment. You'll also be a clear communicator who works well under pressure to tight deadlines.

German language skills would be beneficial, as would any experience of working in a military vehicle or other defence programme. A programme/project management qualification, such as the APMP would also be advantageous.

The ideal Project Planner will also have a membership, or will be working towards gaining membership, with a relevant professional body, such as APM or PMI. Knowledge of Earned Value Management processes and procedures would be equally favourable.
