Based in Cardiff - £21,909 to £35,225
Permanent position: 37.5 hours per week
The successful candidate will also be required to participate in our on-call rota when suitable knowledge and experience has been gained.
NHS Wales Informatics Services (NWIS) is currently looking for an IT Support Technician / Senior IT Specialist in the Network Services team, primarily based in Cardiff.
We are looking for a candidate who can quickly learn our systems and respond to a variety of support requirements. The ideal candidate must have demonstrable excellent communication skills, a good approach in dealing with enquiries and resolving problems for customers.
Ideally, to be considered for the Band 6 salary range, the candidate will have a proven background in Cisco and/or Checkpoint, Data Centre class technologies in multiple environments, which includes core routing/switching (Nexus), perimeter DMZ, remote access technologies, perimeter and core firewalling.
However, we are prepared to consider candidates who are working towards attaining these levels of competence and would be delighted to engage in an early discussion, for consideration to a Band 5 salary position (£21,909 - £28,462) which may lead to a Band 6 position (£26,302 - £35,225) in due course.
You will be working on multiple projects and will be heavily involved in developing, managing, implementing and supporting complex infrastructure within our national data centres, which are situated in Newport and Blaenavon.
