Financial Controller

A large outsourcing company is looking for Financial Controller ideally with a background in Local Government who has experience of working with transactional HR and Payroll.

As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the Finance department as well as being the service line for Payroll and transactional HR. This is a challenging but rewarding role within a great environment.

Details about the role:


- Experience including application and interpretation of financial controls and compliance requirements in an F&A environment.
- Management of teams responsible for:

· Payment of approved supplier invoices;

· Returns to HMRC and other legislative bodies;

· Provision of financial support to schools, academies and other customers;

· Management of income collection.

Management of a team responsible for:

o System administration and maintenance of F&A and HR systems.

- Management of service teams ensuring that they are adequately trained and that their work is both timely and accurate.
- Manage absence and holidays, ensuring adequate levels of resource are available at all times.


- Demonstrated HR and payroll management experience.
- HR management experience including application and interpretation of awards, acts, legislation and compliance requirements in an HR and payroll environment.
- Management of payroll teams responsible for:

o ensuring all statutory and voluntary payroll deductions are paid to appropriate bodes in a timely manner.

o dealing with the LGPS Administering Authority and the Teachers Pensions Agency on all pension scheme matters.

o dealing with the Inland Revenue and Contributions Agency, providing all information required, resolving queries as requested.


- Accountancy qualification.
- Experience of working with computerised F&A and HRP systems handling large volumes of data.
- With strong communication and influencing skills you will have a track record in a leadership role and be an active member and contributor to the contract management team.
- Proven people management experience.
- Analytical approach to problem solving.
- Managing and developing financial systems and controls and budget processes.
- Managing financial management reporting.
- Providing advice and support to internal and external customers.
- Production of monthly accounts.
