Assistant Quantity Surveyor / central London / £27-35,000 per annum (DOE)

The Role

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor role works within their advisory and programme delivery division and primarily works on UK based projects both within the public and private sectors of the construction market where they provide cost and project management services for central government, local authorities and private sector clients. Projects wise are wide and diverse ranging from workplace, residential, law and order, health, education, retail, sports and commercial property so the individual will be engaged on a whole variety of building types.

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be expected to undertake the following duties on a regular basis:-

  • Assist with the preparation of tender documents as required by the preferred procurement method (including Bills of Quantities)
  • Assist with the preparation of standard documentation - reports, valuations, letters, financial statements etc
  • Assist with the examination and analysis of tenders and preparation of tender reports at all stages of procurement
  • Assist with the preparation of valuations and financial statements; re-measure as necessary and adjust variations
  • Act in accordance with the project leaders instructions
  • Take part in contract reviews relating to the contract with the client
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports
  • Assist with the preparation of estimates and cost plans in line with the client's brief
  • Assist with the settlement of construction disputes and prepare and agree final accounts
  • Attendance at design team and progress meetings as instructed

Skills & attributes required

To be considered for this role you must possess the following:-

  • Degree qualified in a quantity surveying subject
  • Strong numeracy and report writing skills
  • Ability to prioritise and work well under pressure
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and clients alike
  • Good presentation skills
  • Proactive and self-motivated
  • Flexible in terms of work location and travel when required
