Job Description:

Main Purpose of Job:

A challenging role identifying learning and assessment needs, co-ordinating, planning and delivering high quality teaching and learning, coaching and assessing within the health and social care sector.

Main Duties:

• To carry out effective Initial Advice and Guidance, induction and functional skills assessments
• Supporting a caseload of learners undertaking Health and Social Care Apprenticeships, including delivery of functional skills
• Carrying out one to one sessions with learners to establish their agreed individual learning plan
• Planning, co-ordinating and carrying out appropriate supported learning and assessment in a flexible manner that meets the needs and requirements of the learner
• Agree schemes of work and session plans for individual programmes amending and preparing bespoke session plans as necessary to meet learner and employer needs
• Providing learners with supported learning, coaching and assessment with feedback that motivates challenges and supports them to improve and succeed
• Planning and carrying out effective reviews of learners that identify learner progress and enable effective planning to facilitate learner achievement in a timely manner
• Actively promote Ashley Hunter Training Academy ethos of Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, Bullying and Harassment and Health, Safety and Wellbeing policies throughout the learner journey
• Updating and recording of appropriate sector Continuous Professional Development (CPD) by undertaking and recording regular staff development and appropriate learning activities
• To ensure that your work and all programme decisions meet the requirements for delivery and assessment therefore meeting both internal and external quality assurance policies and procedures
• Maintaining accurate, detailed and verifiable learner assessment records including assessment plans, records of assessment activity, assessment decisions, feedback, review of progress and supporting plans of action
• Participating in both the Internal and External Quality planned programme of sampling

Skills and Experience Required:

• The ability to motivate individuals through achievement of their qualification and the understanding of how to set SMART targets
• The ability to deliver training and lead workshops
• Excellent communication skills
• Accurate report writing and record-keeping
• Experience of teaching / assessing health and social care including functional skills
• A strong background working within the Health and Social Care Sector

Qualifications Required:

• CAVA / TAQA Assessors Award or equivalent (A1/D32/33)
• Teaching / Training Qualification - PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS, Cert ED, PGCE or equivalent
• Maths, English GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent (Functional skills Level 2)
• Proven prior occupational competency within Health and Social Care
• A minimum of Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification

Job Title: Health and Social Care Trainer / Assessor
Responsible to: Head of Operations
Salary: £21,000 - 24,000 Depending on Experience
