Contract Type
Full Time
We’re looking for a qualified Accountant to join our Client Accounts team. You’ll be ambitious, experienced and knowledgeable, with strong client-facing skills and a knack for providing comprehensive, concise and clear advice along with the figures. We have a largely international client base (mostly SMEs) who need support from us, and client care is our passion.

About us
We’re a team of 9 accountants within a larger company of around 45. You’ll be supported by 3 other Senior Accountants and report to the Accounts Manager.

There are plenty of reasons why this is a great place to work. Firstly, although similar to a Practice, we offer a much calmer, less pressured and more supportive environment, with a varied workload, an emphasis on client care and the personal touch, and there’s respect between each of the teams here.

The company was family-owned for many years and that is something you can still feel as an employee.
We like to nurture employees, helping them develop in particular specialisms and showing flexibility to ensure everyone has a good work/life balance.

The vacancy
You’ll cover an interesting and varied client portfolio offering a full accounting service including:
• Preparation of statutory and management accounts
• Various business and personal tax computations
• Cash flow statements
• VAT preparation and returns
• Consolidated accounts
• Provision of advice and support to clients and colleagues
• Keeping up-to-date with changes to UK GAAP and IFRS
• Occasional payroll cover (if you have this experience)

About you
You will need to have experience of working in a Practice in a similar client accounting position for at least 2 years, but it may be that you’ve returned to industry since then. The most important thing is that your statutory accounts and tax knowledge is strong and recent, as you’ll need to be able to get stuck into this straight away.

It is essential that you are ACA or ACCA qualified, and if you have any tax qualifications (ATT or CTA) that would be even better.
We use Sage and Iris software here but don’t worry if you haven’t used these packages before – they’re easy to pick up.
Although you will work fairly autonomously, we all know when to ask for support.

The perks
In addition to a generous starting salary of £35-45k, you’ll enjoy:
• 35 hour working week (9-5 with an hour for lunch)
• 5 weeks’ holiday plus bank holidays
• Individualised CPD and development opportunities based on your skills
• A generous non-contributory pension scheme (we pay 5% even if you pay in nothing)
• Study support for tax qualifications, if you’d like to take them
• Employees incentives including monthly prizes, health cashback scheme and shopping discounts
• We’re about to move to new offices in Central Bristol – newly refurbished to a high specification

To apply
Please send your CV directly to me rather than applying online - it's really helpful to have a brief email with some details about you. Things like your interest in the role, your current salary and notice period are very useful. We can then have a chat on the phone in more detail.
