Your new company

You'll be working for a childcare company that has a long history in child protection - and their years of experience have shown them that high quality therapeutic childcare helps children and young people learn to deal with their past experiences and prepare for the future. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new service of mental health homes, providing expert, high quality care to children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties. The staff teams for these homes will possess excellent working knowledge and skills in managing children and young people who may have had a long history of complex mental health disorders and at times are presenting in acute distress, whilst providing care that focuses on a model of recovery and therapeutic attachment. In recognition of the challenging behaviours and at times high expressed emotional distress and risky behaviours that these young people may present with, KEYS Childcare will provide an excellent salary and support package. The Service is led by the Director of Mental Health who is highly experienced in CAMHS and a Registered Mental Health Nurse.

Your new role

You'll be the registered manager to a new home in Wolverhampton and will possess excellent working knowledge and skills in managing children and young people who may have had a long history of complex mental health disorders and at times are presenting in acute distress, whilst providing care that focuses on a model of recovery and therapeutic attachment. In recognition of the challenging behaviours and at times high expressed emotional distress and risky behaviours that these young people may present with.

You'll report to the Service is led by the Director of Mental Health who is highly experienced in CAMHS and a Registered Mental Health Nurse.

What you'll need to succeed

Care for Children

  • Enrich the lives of young people in our care who present with Mental Health difficulties, helping them create a positive future focussed on recovery.

Childcare

  • Ensure the effective implementation of the Children Act 1989 and the accompanying guidance and regulations (Vol.4 Residential Care), the Care Standards Act 2000 and the Children's Homes Regulations 2001 and the Mental Health Act 1983. This will be achieved in consultation with the relevant statutory body.
  • Ensure that any matters relating to child protection and Mental Health are managed in line with current legislation, national standards and best practice.
  • Maintain the highest possible standards of childcare and safety to ensure that each child and young person's agreed placement plan is fully implemented.

Leadership Home Management

  • To achieve the best outcomes for all children and young people, ensure that the home is managed effectively and efficiently in a warm caring manner that promotes the positive mental health of children and young people.
  • Ensure the Senior Mental Health project workers and Mental Health project workers are focused on providing the best evidence based childcare for children and young people with mental health difficulties.
  • Ensure full participation and co-operation with the organisations comprehensive and integrated Quality Assurance systems, including taking responsibility for all duties associated with regulatory compliance. This includes the annual inspection process.

Team Management

  • This must, as a minimum, meet with Children's Homes Regulations and National Minimum Standards.
  • Supervise and support the staff group ensuring that the team are developed and trained appropriately to meet the mental health needs of children and young people in the home.
  • With the Assistant Manager and/or seniors, ensure that staff supervision continues to support both childcare delivery and staff development.
