Full Time

We are a national children's charity that exists to help children with disabilities and additional needs to achieve greater independence by aiming to improve mobility, communication skills and learning potential through a range of educational and physical therapies, and the children we work with have a range of conditions including: autisim, brain injuries such as cerebral palsy and genetic disorders such as Down’s syndrome.

Our therapists, who are drawn from the mainstream fields of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and educational therapy, work with the family to devise a unique programme, specifically designed to suit their child’s needs, which will help and encourage them to unlock their child’s potential.

We are seeking to appoint a Speech and Language Therapist, with at least two years’ experience, to work in our SW Centre. It is essential for the successful candidate to have experience working with children with a range of diagnoses including ASD, Down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy and genetic conditions. This role requires experience using a range of interventions and strategies to support complex communication needs including alternative means of communication eg PODD, LAMP, PECS, signing.

The Speech and Language Therapist will be working alongside physiotherapists and educational therapists to deliver joint assessments and treatments. Our therapists work in conjunction with families who spend two days at the centre during an initial assessment and one day for each reassessment. Therapy and intervention programmes are devised and taught to the parents with resources and equipment provided.

This is a new role at our Bridgwater centre so there is scope for development and expansion of the service as well as professional development opportunities.

Our centre is well equipped with four purpose built therapy rooms, a hydrotherapy pool and a sensory room.

If you would like to join a charity that is making a real difference to the lives of the young people we support, please apply with a covering letter and CV to the HR Department or for an informal chat please phone and speak to Carl Puzey, Head of Therapy.
