Product Research Scientist required to join our clients research and development organisation based in Reading. Our client owns a variety of market leading brands across numerous product ranges including Health, Beauty and Home care, this role will focus on products falling with the Personal/Beauty Care product ranges. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven Product Researcher to join the organisation on a temporary basis.

Duration of assignment: 6-9 months TBC
Hours: 37.5/week
Pay Rate: £30/hour

Key responsibilities of the role will be to create front end innovation programs at the initiative or platform level across all types of innovation. Specific deliverables will depend on project stages. This role will involve both Discover & Design stage deliverables:

* Assess the Landscape
Assess the consumer, market and technology landscape to define innovation strategies/product light houses/ multi-generation product-package-technology opportunities.

* Define Unmet Needs and/or Jobs to Be Done
Analyse existing/new qualitative and quantitative data to define target consumer unmet needs and/or new jobs to be done.

* Discover Insights that Drive Product & Package Innovation
Discover consumer, market and technology insights that guide technology development and product/package design requirements.

* Translate Insights to Action
Integrate and translate consumer, market and technology insights into innovation strategies and product ideas.
Develop predictive technical, sensory and consumer models to direct product/ package design.

* Prototype, Model, Measure & Learn
Create prototypes as output for fast-cycle learning
Create/ execute technical and consumer methods & measures to iteratively learn about and model product/ package performance

* Create Holistic Winning Proposition
Develop holistic product/ package experience that delivers the benefit promise.
Define consumer requirements & specifications

* Communicate
Develop and support compelling claims, demos and credentialing to drive proposition with consumers, customers and influencers.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following key skills and experiences:

* Thinks & Acts Decisively Drives decision making on the most complex initiatives by using a range of established Product Research Tools. (DEPTH, modelling, rapid prototyping, claims development, Insights to Action, Change/Create Innovation success criteria, etc.)

* Leverages Mastery Has a proven Mastery of Product Experience Innovation: superbly integrates the 3 sciences of consumer, environment & technology to create a consumer winning product/holistic proposition. Serves as a link back to the business.

* Innovates & Reapplies Defines and leverages the established Product Research Tools to set product requirements and innovation strategy, reapplies & builds mastery on capability platforms (DEPTH, TPS, C2PM, etc). Takes a 'hands on' approach

* Leads Provides leadership and expertise to translate consumers' dreams, product environment and technology into winning product experiences via modelling, better Insights, Prototyping, fast cycle learning.

* Grows Capability Leads capability building for the organisation and the business, inventing new products research techniques where necessary, and building strong modelling databases.

* In Touch Leverages the "3 sciences" - consumer, environment, technology to drive innovation. Anticipates and is familiar with consumer habits/needs across relevant horizontal & vertical segments, and geographies translating those into technical innovation requirements.

* Operates with Discipline Ensures product experience innovation comes to life and is integrated to all product-driven consumer learning plans and technical work. Delivers projects on time, on budget and within all quality measures.
