Salary: £ 30,000-£37,000 (£15.35-£18.97 per hour)

We are currently looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and experienced Theatre Practitioner to perform a dual role as Scrub Practitioner and Training Lead in a busy yet modern theatre department. Part of the role with be to provide scrub and first assistant skills across a wide range of specialties, including some or all of, the following orthopaedics, general surgery, gynaecology, ophthalmology and cosmetic surgery and the other part will be as a Clinical Training Lead within the department to provide 1:1 scrub training to new or existing staff to support them in developing their skills across different specialties. The specialties they look after include: ENT, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Rapid Access Breast Clinic, Spinal Services and Urology. It is in a central location and easily accessible via public transport links around Gloucester.

What you'll be doing:

  • As Senior Theatre Scrub Practitioner/Clinical Training Lead you will be an effective role model who is able to skilfully demonstrate a wide breadth of clinical expertise.
  • As Senior Theatre Scrub Practitioner/Clinical Training Lead you will promote and facilitate the professional development of the nursing and support staff within Theatre, including 1:1 support of more junior colleagues to develop their scrub skills and expertise.
  • As Senior Theatre Scrub Practitioner/Clinical Training Lead you will keep abreast of current evidence based practice and ensure this is incorporated into the delivery of excellence in theatre clinical care
  • As Senior Theatre Scrub Practitioner/Clinical Training Lead you will work closely with the Theatre Manager to ensure that all new clinical/support staff are appropriately inducted and orientated.
  • As Senior Theatre Scrub Practitioner/Clinical Training Lead you will be delivering high quality patient care, which is clinically effective, evidence based and appropriate
  • As Theatre Scrub RGN / ODP you will be assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care as part of a collaborative programme
  • As Senior Theatre Scrub Practitioner/Clinical Training Lead you will work on a varied caseload using technology, equipment and facilities which are state-of-the-art and maintained to very high standards.

What you'll need:

  • As Senior Theatre Scrub Practitioner/Clinical Training Lead you must be NMC or HCPC qualified.
  • As a registered Senior Theatre Scrub ODP / RGN, you'll have the qualifications and experience relevant to your registration.
  • As a registered Theatre Scrub ODP / RGN you'll also have post-registration experience.
  • Immediate / Advanced Life Support are desirable.
  • You'll be an excellent communicator and team worker - flexible and motivated.
