About us LK Tool Company Limited was founded in Derby, England in 1963by Norman Key (a former Rolls Royce engineer) and Bill Lowther (Norman'sfather-in-law). It was a supplier of granite inspection tooling to theengineering industry and then became the innovator of the "BridgeType" multi-axis Coordinate Measuring Machine. LK startedoperations in the USA in 1983 capturing a large part of the automotivemarket for high volume production inspection systems. Since then, LK hasbeen designing, manufacturing, and deploying CMMs throughout the world.LK is the world's oldest manufacturer of CMM. This year, as LKcelebrates its 55th anniversary as a leader in the CMM Industry, thecompany has returned to be an independent UK CMM manufacturerheadquartered in Derby, with Sales and Support offices in the UK, NorthAmerica, Belgium, France and Germany. About the role We are looking torecruit a Software Engineer to join us at our offices in Derby on a fulltime, permanent basis. As Software Engineer, you will work within anAgile/SCRUM Software Development team, responsible for developing,testing and debugging our software solutions. As Software Engineer, yourmain duties will include: - Design, development and testing of oursoftware products using technologies such as C++, C# and SQL serverWindows - Supporting the roll out, testing and debugging of theseproducts at key customer sites, mainly in the UK but occasionallyoverseas - Participating in the full development process, throughspecification, development, code review, testing and delivery - Ensuringthat projects are delivered on time and to specification with goodquality About you We welcome applications from candidates who meet thebelow criteria: - Masters Degree (desirable) or BEng/BSc (minimum 2:1)in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or Maths - Previous exposureto object-oriented design and strong object-oriented design skills -Practical knowledge of at least one modern object-oriented programminglanguage (preferably C++) and the ability/desire to learn newtechnologies and programming languages - Understanding of 3Dvector/coordinate geometry - Good verbal and written communicationskills - Ability to present complex technical information to bothtechnical and non-technical audiences - Strong Maths skills in areassuch as mechanics, numerical methods and vector/coordinate geometry(desirable) - Exposure to larger software engineering projects andsoftware architecture (desirable) - Knowledge of software engineeringprocesses and tools such as Scrum, Agile, revision control and VisualStudio (desirable) - Knowledge of one or more of the following: MFC,WPF, XAML, SQL Server, WIX, 3D graphics (desirable) If you like thesound of the role and feel that you meet the person specification, welook forward to reviewing your application.
