Bloxham School have an exciting opportunity for a Swimming Teaching Assistant to join their growing team based in Bloxham, Banbury.

Job Title: Swimming Teaching Assistant

Location: Bloxham, Banbury

Salary: £9.19 per hour

Job Type: Zero hours’ contract - Approx. 1-3 hours per week - Hours dependent on teacher availability and lessons time but could be weekday afternoons / evenings, weekend mornings or afternoons

As Swimming Teaching Assistant you will support the Swimming Teacher to help teach and coach people of all ages and abilities to develop swimming skills, technique and confident in the water.

Swimming Teaching Assistant - Duties include:

- Assist in the delivery of swimming lesson under the instruction of the Swimming Teacher

- Work as part of a team to ensure that the wellbeing, behaviour and personal development of pupils

- Understand and apply school policies

- Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety

- Make sure that the pupil is in an appropriate working position and has access to required equipment and materials.

- Support the pupil in gaining self-confidence and independence through encouragement and reassurance.

- Remain in the water during the session, assisting with swimmer supervision and instruction

- To agree to abide by a code of conduct and carry out duties in accordance with Bloxham School and its Subsidiaries’ policies, including equal opportunities, safeguarding children, health and safety at work, etc.

- Assist with the evacuation of the pool in an emergency

- Ensure the safe passage of each group of children between poolside and changing rooms

- Assist the swimming teacher as required with any relevant administrative tasks

Swimming Teaching Assistant - Qualifications/ Skills/ Experience:


- Good level of written and spoken English

- Good role model

- Able to follow instructions

- Able to communicate effectively, clarify and explain instructions to pupils

- Able to assist with the organisation of the learning environment

- Able to undertake routine tasks under the direction of a teacher

- Able to work effectively with adult team members

- Able to maintain confidentiality


NRASTC or Safety Award for Teachers qualification (training can be provided upon employment)
