Management Accountant


  • Primary responsibility for the management accounting function for a macro hedge fund business with principal operations in London and New York
  • Key elements of the role comprise:
    • accounting,
    • banking and cash management,
    • budgeting,
    • tax processing,
  • Responsible for the (out-sourced) production of accounting books and records for all group entities,
  • Manage the outsourced production of monthly management accounts and financial statements
  • Assist with the production of annual budgets and rolling forecasts, and analysis of variances against budget
  • Responsibility for annual audits
  • Manage the cash function, including managing and reconciling bank accounts, managing cash balances, and producing and monitoring cash flow forecasts
  • Managing supplier payments, including payment timing and processing, creditor control and cost control
  • Assist with monthly and ad hoc financial reporting to Executive Committee
  • Assist with corporate tax processes and corporate tax reporting for the group's UK and US management entities
  • Assist with personal tax processes and personal tax reporting for the Partners in the business (i.e. in relation to their personal tax obligations)
  • Manage the VAT reporting and reclaim process
  • Assist with implementation and refinement of financial policies and controls
  • Involvement in financial projects of strategic or ad hoc nature

Candidate attributes:

  • Studying toward an appropriate accounting degree (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • A degree from a top 30 University
  • Highly quantitative, structured, methodical
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly motivated, hard-working, highly engaged
  • Analytical mind
  • Confident (able to cope with reasonable challenge and debate as well as with the intensity associated with a macro hedge fund)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • A strong team player, pleasant to work with
  • An appropriate candidate will likely have spent 2 to 4 years' experience in a management accounting role in in a financial services (ideally investment) organisation.
