A top 20, independent firm based in London who are part of a wider network of independent accounting firms, providing a truly global coverage. They provide accountancy services and advice to a broad range of business, corporate, not for profits and private clients. Due to growth within the London team, there is an opportunity for a newly qualified auditor to join the NFP team and audit grant funding awarded to various organisations within the European Community.
Your new role
This team covers the audit of grants awarded to organisations operating in the field of humanitarian aid and civil protection. The number of field audits to be carried out each year by the team is expected to be around 30-35 covering 10 to 15 areas of action where an area of action could mean a country, a number of countries or a specific region. You will undertake field audit trips throughout the year ranging from 1 week to 5 weeks per trip (average number of trips anticipated to be in the region of 5 to 6). In addition to the usual responsibilities, you will allocate work to junior members of the audit team and provide on the job training, review their work and provide feedback. You will advise the manager of any developments that may lead to a change in strategy and suggest logical solutions to problems. Finally, you will ensure that the work undertaken on site is in accordance with the approved plan and budget.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be fully ACA or ACCA qualified with a strong academic background. You will need to be able to demonstrate leadership skills, with the ability to command respect at all levels. It is essential to have an understanding of the European Commission as well as having Fluent English and French language skills. Additional knowledge of Spanish and other language capabilities is a bonus. You should be comfortable with working with a wide range of people from many different countries, be able to provide direction and support to assistants from other firms and countries and have the ability to work in challenging environments.
