Graduate Software Engineer

Location: Walsall (WS2)

Salary: £22,000 per annum

They offer a comprehensive IT solution to their clients; encompassing proactive IT support coupled with business-centric consultancy and project delivery. They support a range of clients from small SME businesses up to large multinationals. They provide installation and support services covering amongst other things Windows server, network infrastructure, and cloud technologies along with strategic IT consultancy.

The primary focus of the Graduate Software Engineer role would be:

  • The role will involve development projects for clients including Microsoft Dynamics CRM, PowerApps, PowerBI and other applications within the Microsoft cloud suite.
  • There will also be a requirement to assist with other coding projects that will support the IT helpdesk. This may include scripting in PowerShell and JavaScript.
  • This role will be within a busy helpdesk environment so there will also be opportunities to get involved in all aspects of IT architecture including networking and servers.
  • The successful applicant will need to be a good ‘fixer’. Someone capable of working independently toward a logical conclusion to a given problem.

The ideal Graduate Software Engineer will need the following:

  • This role would suit a graduate with a good degree (1st or 2:1) in Computer Science or other programming discipline.
  • A formal education in coding is an absolute necessity. You will be expected to be able to produce code to a good standard using formal methodologies.
  • A good understanding of object-oriented programming will be expected.
  • A good understanding of SQL and database theory will be required.
  • Languages may include C#, .Net, PowerShell and Java. It is not necessary to know all these languages, but the ability to learn and adapt to new languages is a must.
  • Flexibility to work on other non-coding IT projects is desirable. An interest in general IT would therefore be advantageous.
