About this Role:

Due to planned growth, my specialist Regional Civil Engineering client is currently recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to work alongside their Commercial Team based near Egham on projects in the Southern Region.

The work varies, but they are currently involved in projects in the following sectors;

Highways & Bridges

Environment Agency Works

River & Marine

Coastal Defence

My client is one of the largest privately owned Civil Engineering contractors operating across the UK and they are now looking to recruit, on a permanent basis an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to work in their Southern Region.

This role is a Regional based role which will be both office (based near Egham) and site based in the Southern Counties of Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex predominantly.

You will mainly be responsible for assisting with the commercial function for construction projects.

Main Duties:

Ensure compliance with quality, safety and environmental objectives

Provide general assistance to Quantity Surveyors Assist with preparing plans, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation

On-site measurement and measurement of drawings as required

Assist with identifying potential risks and evaluate options for control

On-going cost analysis of maintenance and repair work

Feasibility studies of clients requests

Assist with preparation of estimates Assist with analysing sub-contractors quotations

Assist with preparation and agreeing variation accounts

Assist with preparation and agreeing of interim valuations and final accounts

Prepare and issue certification for contract payments to sub-contractors

Assist with providing evidence for resolution of disputes

They are looking for a highly organised individual with great negotiation skills, who has excellent verbal and written English. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate innovative approaches to problem solving and the ability to negotiate across the various levels of any construction environment as well as handle the financial and mathematical demands of the role by possessing impressive numeracy skills.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a civil engineering environment and undertaking the commercial function for active contracts.

Ideally, you will be conversant with both JCT & NEC Forms of Contract.

My client is open to applications from individuals who are currently working as a Graduate QS, Assistant QS or Commercial Assistant and you are likely to have a minimum of an HNC in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.

My client is a well-respected, established Civil Engineering Contractor with a turnover of Circa £100M per annum and with aspirations to grow considerably in the coming years.

Requirements including certificates and qualifications:

Minimum of a HNC in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management or equivalent.

Candidates must be able to prove their eligibility to work in the UK
