Fdu is recruiting an Interim EMEA Head of Tax for a client within the TMT sector. I am seeking an individual with initiative and drive who will quickly get to grips with the responsibilities of the role and its tax technical aspects and be a good fit to lead the small but busy EMEA tax team.

This is a hands-on technical role whilst leading a small team and managing all aspects of taxes for countries within the EMEA region. The work focusses on managing the group tax reporting for EMEA and all corporate tax, VAT and transfer pricing.

Key responsibilities:

Responsible for tax matters for entities in all countries within the EMEA region including:

o Country level income tax compliance - Overseeing the corporate tax compliance for all EMEA companies across numerous jurisdictions - delegating day to day work and supporting on process and technical issues, timetables and outsource provider relationships. Reviewing tax returns and return-to-provision tax true-ups, tax account reconciliations, and cash forecasts.

o Country level VAT/GST compliance, reviewing VAT returns.

o Assist with tax audits - working with local accountants and tax advisors, dealing with communications and minimising further queries. Country level income tax provision and income tax accounting - including preparation and review of tax provision calculations and reports, managing processes and ensuring advisory/planning are reflected in the group reporting and communicated accordingly.

o Country level tax planning and research.

o Technical resource for tax matters. Point of contact for various teams across the business, advising on various issues such as acquisitions, due diligences, expansion into new territories, contract reviews, withholding taxes, dividends, recapitalisations, transfer pricing, liquidations and employment tax issues.

o Provide income tax liabilities and payments for forecasts and annual/multi-year-outlook plans.

o Provide variance analyses for forecast/plan versus actual tax.

o Manage tax service providers for EMEA including keeping costs within Budget.

o Monitor and internally communicate tax legislative and judicial activity for EMEA.

o Lead special projects associated with EMEA taxes.

Your profile:

  • Chartered accountant (ACA), Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) or equivalent.
  • 8 or more years of experience with international taxes.
  • 3 or more years supervisory/management experience.
  • Extensive experience of international tax compliance, group tax reporting and tax advisory.
