Salary: up to £30,000 (Depending on Experience)


Our client based in the Wisbech area are looking for a skilled Design Engineer to join their thriving Engineering division. You will be responsible for interpreting customer requirements into appropriate and cost-effective designs that can be fabricated by the workshop team and which support lean manufacturing processes. The job holder is required to ensure the smooth development throughout the design process through to product completion.

Duties and Responsibilities

· To ensure full understanding of the customer requirements, providing expert advice and guidance, so that accurate designs and drawings can be agreed

· To produce relevant and detailed technical drawings and 3D models for each project that use the most efficient and cost-effective methods

· To ensure the timely and relevant sourcing of non-stock items so that the right parts are available on site for fabrication

· Responsible for the timely completion of all related administration

· To ensure compliance with all aspects of Health & Safety

· To ensure equality and diversity is actively promoted in the workplace

· To work as part of the wider team, supporting other colleagues and undertaking additional duties as required

Any other duty as directed by the Director

Key measures

· Understands customer requirements. Provides expert advice and guidance to customers in relation to alternative methods to maximise efficiency and cost effectiveness. Liaises with the Sales Engineer and Director to ensure requirements can be met. Develops appropriate design plans that are agreed with the Director

· Relevant and accurate detailed drawings are produced that support the capabilities of the machinery within the Company. Lean manufacturing processes are used wherever possible

· Best value component parts are sought and purchased. Parts are purchased at the right time so fabrication and installation is not delayed. All relevant component parts are delivered on time without disruption to the manufacturing process

· All relevant administration is completed both accurately and timely in line with guidelines set and Director expectations. This includes the completion of the sketching check list, design modification document and the design check list. Appropriate records are developed and routinely maintained

· Lead by example. H&S policy is adhered to always. Risk assessments completed and recorded appropriately.

· Lead by example. Appropriately conducts self with colleagues and customers. Absence of complaints

· Support is given to fellow colleagues as and when required. Jobs are completed accurately and timely

· All other duties are completed accurately, timely and in line with procedure
