Our manufacturing client based in the mid-lothian area of Edinburgh are looking to appoint an experienced Maintenance Electrician

Main Areas of responsibility:
·To assess all relevant maintenance and repair situations concerning production equipment and buildings, and in the first instance make a decision based on your knowledge and understanding before referral to supervisor.
·Ensures operation of electrical systems and equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on conveyors, programmable controllers, transformers, voltage regulators, and machinery wiring; following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications; troubleshooting.
·Installs new machines and equipment by installing power supply wiring and conduit to and between machines and equipment; using hand tools and test equipment.
·Repairs electrical systems and equipment by diagnosing malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures; determining faulty wiring; inspecting and testing malfunctioning machinery.
·Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine electrical preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
·Repairs and replaces faulty electrical components by using testing equipment and hand tools to install relays, switches, motors, printed circuit boards, and position-sensing devices.
·Maintains electrical equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies;
·Conserves electrical maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
·Provides electrical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.

Key skills/Experience

·Individual should have knowledge of industrial controls, PLC's, instrumentation, and three phase motor circuits. This position requires the ability to operate, test, troubleshoot and repair equipment.
·Basic knowledge of General Maintenance, Mechanical and electrical components of manufacturing equipment are also required.
·Experience of fault diagnosis and rectification.
·Flexible attitude towards working hours and multi disciplined electrical engineering role
·Experience in servicing equipment by, testing, troubleshooting, using volt meters to determine specific problems.
·Repairs the equipment, its sub-systems, and all ancillary processes /or equipment related to the operation of the plant floor.
·Plans and performs work requiring thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and principals of wiring, specifications, and national electrical codes.
·Experience in ability to read, understand and use drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals in the service of equipment.
·Perform electrical planned maintenance as assigned.
·Documents and maintains technical data to include calibrations performed and other required paper work associated with proper maintenance and record keeping.
·Ability to effectively communicate with machine operators, supervisor, colleagues and equipment and parts suppliers.
·Experience of cable installs, power distribution, and wiring required for equipment.
·Knowledge of factory Health and Safety and environmental regulations

·Time served within an industrial environment
·17th Edition or equivalent
