The Desktop Hardware Engineer is fundamental in the delivery of support services to clients. Reporting to the Local Service Delivery Manager/Desktop Manager, and working within a team of technicians, the Desktop Hardware Engineer will be campus based and responsible for the timely delivery of desktop hardware break fix, request and asset management services within the client’s campuses.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Individual:

Logical and methodical approach to work
Demonstrate a clear understanding of IT hardware break fix, PC build and asset management
Experienced in workflow management
Conscientious and committed to the delivery of the overall expectation

Systems:

Manage designated BAU fault and request tickets via the client’s systems, Vulcan and EURC
CIMS - Technician level use of the Inventory Management System to follow logical process flows and compliance
Conform with all Redstone / client’s SLA’s
Communicate clearly with schedulers as to the status of your allocated tickets and tasks
Emailing schedulers with full details once job completed - for billing purposes.
Update and negotiate tickets imputing regular notes
Prioritise and Escalate specific requests

Activities:

iSpace builds onto laptops - encryption and profiling with users
iSpace builds onto desktops - profiling with users
Flashing Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and installation
Installing applications and testing (remote assist)
Install and decom desktops and laptops - Lenovo/Dell/HP
Install and decom peripherals, screens, KVM switches, keyboards and mice
Provide hardware diagnostics and break fix
Replace desktop/laptop hard drives
Map network drives and printers
Configure Wey switch technology

RELEVANT EXPERIENCES & TRAINING:

  • Experience working in banking environment
  • Experience in a Moves Adds and Changes environment, with 2 years experience in desktop environment preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of modern computer technologies and operating systems
  • Good knowledge of Asset Management Systems
  • Good knowledge of Ticketing Systems
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to learn processes and adapt to these

Preferred but not Essential

  • MCSE/A+/MCITP
  • Lenovo or HP certified (desktop and Laptop)
  • Practical experience of IT and windows

This role will be based on our clients sites in London, you may be required to travel between sites.
