Our client, an educational establishment, located in Sidcup, is seeking to recruit a Part Time Fiance Manager working Tuesday to Thursday. You must be a part qualified CIMA/ACCA or AAT qualified Management Accountant. You will be assisting our clients as it moves towards its year end and also support a new Director starting on June 11th.
Our client will be flexible with the levels of experience, but it is essential that you have excellent excel skills and a bit of data manipulation. They use CODA Dream for financials and SAP Crystal Reporting
PURPOSE OF THE POST
The Finance Manager will provide a comprehensive accounting service to the College and its stakeholders. They will support the delivery of the College Strategic Plan through assisting with the process of annual budget setting, monthly reporting of performance against plan and regular forecasting within tight timeframes.
The post holder will provide advice, guidance and support to budget holders and senior management of the organisation and external bodies on financial performance matters.
The role requires liaison with senior management and all departments across the College and will lead a small team within the Finance Department and be required to represent Finance on Committees as and when required.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  1. Responsible for working with the Director of Finance to produce the annual estimates of income and expenditure of the College.
  2. Responsible for the production of accurate management accounts each month comparing actual performance against budget
  3. Provision of analysis and explanations for the differences between actuals and budgets and production of timely reports explaining these to the budget holders.
  4. Maintenance of an up to date forecast of annual income and expenditure and reporting this in the monthly management accounts.
  5. Responsible for supporting the accounting processes associated with procure to pay, billing to cash collection, cash management and payroll.
  6. Continually reviewing the data collection and information collation with a view to reporting management accounts more accurately and timely to budget holders.
  7. Assist the Director of Finance and deputise, where necessary, with meetings with budget holders to ensure performance is explained and corrective action is undertaken to ensure planned financial performance is achieved.
  8. To maintain a knowledge of current accounting regulations and standards to enable financial advice to be provided accurately within the College.
  9. Responsible for the day to day management of the operational budgetary system at the College including authorisation levels and budget controls signatories.
  10. Development of close relations with budget holders in the preparation of budgets and supporting information to fully inform the planning process and aid the subsequent operational monitoring and control of those budgets.
  11. Responsible for the production of all College statutory returns and ensuring all financial reporting to external funding bodies complies fully with contractual requirements and timescale
  12. Creation of financial business cases for all collaborations, courses and validations for presentation to the relevant approval committees.
  13. Ensure best practice is maintained at all times. To lead on compliance, ensuring that all procedures and policies are business focused and communicated effectively.
  14. Develop and undertake training to ensure the budget holders have the appropriate levels of financial awareness for staff at all levels.
  15. Management of the financial year end processes for the College to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and College Financial Regulations.
  16. To continuously improve the management accounting system to ensure it is operated effectively and provides accurate and timely reports for the Board of Governors and its committees
  17. To produce all reporting to comply with the requirements of HEFCE and other funding bodies as required
  18. Carry out any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post as may be directed by the post holders line manager.
