We have a rare opportunity for a Principal Developer to join our Milton Keynes based team to deliver analysis, design, development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of NHBC internal applications to support key business processes.



Role Responsibilities



As Principal Developer you’ll report into the Strategic Development Manager and work within a core team. Analysing and documenting customer requirements for enhancements to existing systems as well as new systems, you’ll also analyse, design and build, unit test and document new modules adhering to set departmental standards.



You’ll advise other members of the team/department on technical issues and provide consistently reliable estimates to their Manager as well as weekly progress updates, highlighting any issues as they occur. You’ll also provide second-line support to users of NHBC systems for applications and enhancements the team has delivered.



Who are we looking for?



You’ll need to be able to work well under pressure and be adept at taking problems and seeing them through to resolution with minimal supervision. You should be an excellent communicator and very client focussed with strong interpersonal skills.



Essential skills for this role:



- Current and in-depth experience in software development using Oracle web-based technologies, primarily PL/SQL, SQL and Oracle Forms 10g/11g/12c, Oracle RDBMS 10g/11g/12c, Linux, Oracle Weblogic 10g/11g/12c



- Good knowledge and experience of Oracle database 10g/11g/12c



- Current experience in Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Tuning & performance optimisation and Oracle Webforms 10g/11g/12c



- Proven experience of working on full project lifecycle using Waterfall/PRINCEII/Agile SCRUM development methodologies



- Attention to detail, impeccable organisational skills



- Solid troubleshooting and critical analysis

Highly desired skills for this role:



- Experience of Oracle Designer (FHD, ERD), Oracle Apex and knowledge of Business Intelligence reporting tool - (OpenText BIRT) is highly desirable



- Knowledge of Web Technologies (Java/J2EE) and application servers



- Oracle Spatial
