Food Commodities Trader
A major multinational trading company based in the City of London are now looking for a physical food commodities trader (grain, corn, soy, wheat, barley, feed products and functional & specialty food ingredients ) to join their small team, trading in the range of one million mt per year to EMEA markets.
Applications are welcome from those with outstanding academic results such as a first class degree in math, finance or economics field, plus at least 2-5 years prior experience in physical trading of grain, corn, soy, wheat, barley, feed products and functional & specialty food ingredients.
TYPE: Permanent, full time
LOCATION: City of London
SALARY: £43-55K, depending on experience

The role will acquire new businesses in line with the Division’s direction, and build relationships with end users of grain, feed and food manufacturers etc. in the EMEA region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES·Food materials physical trading/marketing·Realising sales and earning profits through market research, monitoring, data analysis, active engagements with customers and suppliers.·Building and developing customer and supplier relationships across the EMEA region·Planning, mitigating and executing the risk management of grain trading and execution, including negotiation over terms & conditions and ancillary cost/charges negotiation (DEM/DES) etc.·Solving customer complaints·Negotiation and settlement of payments, charges, insurance, etc.·Food material business policy and strategy building·Look for investment opportunities·Contract management·Credit line application and management·Work in line with back office team handling contract execution and documentation
IDEAL APPLICANTFirst class University degree or higher; in math, finance, or economics2-5 years physical food commodities trading experience in a multinational environmentStrong knowledge for overall trade transaction, finance, accounting, credit management, taxation and logistics, and basic legal affairsWillingness to travel international frequently (including weekends/holidays)Good communications skills (verbal, written and listening) in EnglishAbility to work as part of a team and independentlyTeam-working skills; effectively interacting with colleagues in order to manage the total team workloadAbility to shift proper priorities for tasks in particular order with strict timeframes and work under pressure
