Tata Steel Strip Products UK (TSSP UK) makes hot-rolled, cold-rolled and metallic-coated strip steels and provides solutions in product design, processing technologies and management of the supply chain. We are currently recruiting for a Master Data Management (MDM) Technologist to be based at our Newport, South Wales site and working within the Technical Department. This position will primarily involve taking and reviewing the customer technical order data that we receive and then entering the information into a SAP Material Master. You will also help manage the Technical master data that we own within the team which must be maintained in order to support the order entry and product routing processes.
Additional responsibilities in SAP will include, implementing any new / amended master data required for the maintenance of steel grade and Slab grid data and you will also be involved in the change management process required for the updating of material master records. This role will also help the Technical Data Steward to maintain and develop effective Quality Assurance procedures within the team to ensure that business practices are clear and robust.
Skills & Experience Required
We are looking to recruit a candidate who has excellent IT, literacy and numeracy skills and will have a sound knowledge of SAP based IT systems. An ability to work within a team is fundamental to success in this role as there are significant cross-functional interactions required with the Supply Chain, Commercial and Finance teams.
Applicants should ideally be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant scientific, mathematical or IT discipline . We expect applicants to possess excellent attention to detail, be logical problem solvers and be very self-motivated.
An understanding of basic customer requirements, steel ordering specifications and manufacturing process routes would also be an advantage.
