To produce components to drawing tolerance and specifications, efficiently and accurately as required by internal and external customer specifications.

Key responsibilities:
*Programming
- creation of programs following the relevant QP on either the M/C or offline
- there are no errors present in any program used
- operators will be responsible for the use of any programs used
- that any program modifications are do so without any errors
- any modifications to programs are saved and sent back to programming office as per QP
*Operating
- M/C is operated by a competent person
- that all Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and any other relevant H&S instructions are followed
- that any undertaking of minor changes to “off sets” in programs produce quality components as per drawing limits/customer requirements
- that there are no mistakes in operating the M/C
- M/C processes are running at optimum efficiency and correct speed and feed, including regrinding of tools
- that you correctly support and advise other employees when required
- that any tool or insert failure is dealt with in a manner that limits any component damage
- that there is no or limited swarf build up whilst machining
- all required surface finishes are machined as per drawing / route card / instruction
*Route Cards, Drawings, Works Instructions, Route Instructions
- no paperwork is lost or damaged whilst under your control
- all paperwork is read correctly and if you have any questions that they are communicated to your DLM ASAP
- written instructions are correct and that they match to the operation you are carrying out
- any written operating procedure is correctly followed
- you do not differ from the route or instruction you are given
- all components are correctly identified
*Machine & Surrounding Area
- that the machine and area being used is clean and clear at all times as far as reasonably practicable
- the machines under your operation are correctly maintained according to maintenance schedule
- the use of the pallet marked area at all times
- that you only use euro pallets (where possible)
- the machine coolant you use is of the correct dilution
- the machine and area you use is suitable for another member of the team to use
*Setting
- that setting is carried out correctly and efficiently
- that the component is setup correctly
- that the tools are set up correctly and that the correct tools are used
- that the jigs or fixtures are correct
- when using set up sheets the detail is correct to the component you are machining
- that all “datum’s” are set correctly
*Inspection
- before machining any component that the material provided is the correct material for the component being manufactured
- all components, semi-finished or fully complete are correctly inspected by the operator before passing to inspection
- correct equipment is used when inspecting components
- that equipment is correctly read and there is certainty of measurement
- that all equipment used is within calibration
- that all equipment is booked in and out of stores
- that inspection are informed at the earliest possible moment that they are required for checking a component
- no material or components are lost
*Packaging & Handling
- that all components are packaged correctly
- all components do not suffer damage during transportation
- inform management if work will not be completed on time highlighting any concerns at the earliest opportunity
- always use mechanical aids when lifting where appropriate
*General
- work with other employees to ensure quality and standards are maintained at all times
- adhere to company quality procedures as per QMS
- undertake any reasonable management request
- attend staff meetings when requested
- work flexibly where possible to support the business when needed
- attend training as requested
- communicate clearly and forward improvement suggestions for discussion
- ensure waste is kept to a minimum to benefit both the company and the environment
- ensure H&S rules and regulations are adhered to at all times
- all components must be clearly identified at all times with the use of a Route Card or Split Batch
- inform management immediately of any issues
