The Head of Digital Delivery is a significant contributor to the delivery and continuous development of the College Digital Transformation Programme.

As part of this role, they will oversee the projects and programmes within the Digital Transformation portfolio and ensure there is appropriate tracking/reporting, assurance/quality control, information management, financial tracking, risk/issue tracking, change control, support and knowledge management/learning from experience. They add value primarily through leadership but also through their knowledge, skills and experience and will be continuously looking to improve delivery to maximise the benefits of the significant investment that is made by the College in IT & Digital. They will also lead the Digital Champions programme and be involved in other more culture-related change initiatives.

The role of the Head of Digital Delivery is therefore to lead the delivery team including: tracking status of programme deliverables and milestones; supporting the adoption of the project lifecycle and deliverables; programme level risk and issue coordination; monitoring the status of projects transitioning into normal service and supporting governance processes.


  • Experience of leading and managing major projects or programmes of c£2m or more
  • Experience of working in the idea / early stage of project/idea development
  • Experience of managing smaller projects, or exposure to the end to end project lifecycle, or managing substantial parts of the project lifecycle
  • Experience of working with multiple third parties at the same time
  • Experience of working within a structured project management framework
  • Experience of using project management tools and techniques especially agile approaches
  • Key Tasks

    Some of the key tasks that the role holder will be expected to perform are as follows:

  • Delivery : ensuring the delivery of all change on time, to budget and to quality and successfully transitioned into business-as-usual operation both within IT and more widely, supporting projects managers as required
  • Communication and Change : in collaboration with others, ensuring projects and programmes embed and change / benefits are realised and demonstrated
  • Planning and Resourcing : ensure the all work has robust resilience delivery plans that are fully and appropriately resourced
  • Support the realisation of the College’s Digital Strategy aligned with the overall College Strategy
  • Programme and Project Governance : ensure and support all stakeholders in the agile Digital Transformation governance and constantly improve it
  • Budget : manage the capital budget of up to £3m
  • Performance Management : provide excellent line management and performance management of their team, giving the right balance of support and challenge and linking the day-to-day work with overall IT and organisational objectives
