JA254 - Project Engineer - Fire & Security Industry

Location: Glasgow

Salary: £Competitive plus pakage


· We are recruiting currently for a Project Engineer for our clients Fire & Security Business. The Project Engineer will work with their Project Department to deliver small projects and all commissioning activity to a high standard for the fire and security operations business for Multi-Technical Services. To ensure works are delivered on time and safely, meeting the client's requirements, the industry codes of practice and regulatory body requirements. To deliver safe, compliant and quality products and services at all times. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will have a fire & security engineering background and ideally have strong proven track record in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

· Achieve set/agreed targets for production at the required contract gross margin for projects assigned to you

· Deliver projects assigned to you; on time; on budget; complaint and safe achieving margins

· Maximise opportunities for additional works and cost reduction to enhance margins

· Identify and mitigate project risks

· Actively engage in the ''Design to Ops Handover'' process and support design colleagues in securing true net costs and correct product choice for margin enhancement and system performance

· Support, guide and train team members in knowledge transfer and personal development

· Work closely with other teams within the department to provide support, engineering cover, project management cover working together effectively as a complete business unit

· Maintain close working relationships with MTS colleagues and departments thus ensuring cohesion, compliance and best practice

· To uphold the good name of the company at all times and not to disclose to a third party any information of a confidential nature

· Promote the Company brand and the business profile in the marketplace

· Carry out any reasonable tasks required by line management in a manner that is conducive to good business practice

Maintain external customer communications through the project process including;

- pre-start

- project mobilisation

- project delivery

- project handover

- project completion after-care

- securing maintenance opportunities

Maintain internal communications through the full project delivery process including:

- internal handover involving commercial / BD/ design

- liaison with procurement as required

- liaison with HS&E business partner as required

- liaison with QA business partner as required

- liaison with commercial team as required for valuations, contract reviews, contractual matters, opportunities and risk mitigation

- liaison with interdepartmental colleagues as required

Skills and Experience:


· Understanding and interpretation of drawings, specifications, contracts and associated contract documentation

· Experience in handling confidential information and communications

· Discretion and confidentiality

· Flexible work ethic and good time management

· Excellent planning, co-ordination and organisational skills

· Anticipating and mitigating contract risks

· Identifying and maximising contract opportunities

· Deployment of tasks using own initiative

· Conversant in the applicable industry standards and codes of practice

· Attention to detail in reading, interpreting and understanding specifications, quotations, tenders, drawings

· Understanding and complying with policy, procedures and best practice


· Personable nature

· Good communication skills

· Can work under pressure and able to meet critical deadlines
