Technologist - Boys and Girls Essentials

About the role:

George has become one of the top clothing retailers in the UK – so you can imagine what a fast-paced and energetic place this is to work. Joining our busy team, you’ll take charge of all our fabric and finishes. You’ll work closely with our Technical, Buying, Design teams and other key colleagues driving a customer-focused approach across our stores. It’s an exciting opportunity that will offer plenty of autonomy and new challenges every day, working in an Assistant role within an experienced team.

The role is based at our George Home Office in Leicestershire.

The ins & outs:

• To guarantee 100% accuracy of technical information, measurements, fitting and safe, Legal and compliant
• To ensure right product is issued to the right supplier who will be best to deliver the product
• To ensure that the designs, that are created, are within the parameters of our cost structure
• To establish the correct sizing and fit in line with the high-street
• To follow the technical manual to ensure the quality standards, outlined, are achieved.
• To be aware of new technical developments and to work with the Technical manager , Buyer and designer to implement where necessary.
• To develop an excellent working partnership and understanding with our George colleagues, suppliers and global supply base.

What you’ll need:

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills -

• Have a proven track record in the industry in a similar role or ideally have a garment/ textile/ fashion qualification
• Good pattern, fitting and construction knowledge
• Strong knowledge is safety requirements for Kids wear
• An excellent team player with good communication skills
• Strong organisation & administration skills and the ability to problem solve
• Proactive and innovative forward thinker
• Excellent understanding of the George customer
• Ability to manage time and workloads with strong commercial acumen
• Strong IT skills with intermediate ability with Microsoft office
• Gain understanding of customer – regular store visits, comp shops and attending customer listening groups
• Awareness of marketing activity
• Continue to review competitors strategy throughout season
