Morson International have an active requirement for an experienced Software License Manager to work on an initial 6 month contract on client site in Milton Keynes.

The ideal candidate will lead, manage and deploy Software Management policies and processes across Information Management (IM), optimise software asset investments and minimise overall risk. The role will be aligned to the principles of the Service Transition elements of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

***Please note that this role is deemed as being in-scope of IR35***

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the strategic roadmap for Software Licence Management, including reviewing proposals for renewals and new services. Responsible for the day to day management of the Software Licence Management Team
  • Lead the development, deployment and maintenance of the Software Asset Management policies, processes and procedures across all aspects of the asset lifecycle in IM
  • Be the Information Management liaison/owner for all formal Software asset audits including the ownership of the tools and processes within Licence Management
  • Accountable for establishing, influencing and maintaining the governance of the processes regarding the tracking and use of Software Assets and co-ordinating regular audits with Configuration Owners to verify the accuracy of the Software Configuration Management database (CMDB)
  • Work with all customers, IM architecture and project teams to support the procurement, configuration, deployment and destruction of software so that we are making the most out of our current software assets, and not acquiring new software assets unnecessarily
  • To own the Software Licence Management Risk Register identifying proactively and mitigating risks that could impact the operational, reputational or commercial expose Network Rail
  • Work with all customers, IM architecture and project teams to support the procurement, configuration, deployment and destruction of software so that we are making the most out of our current software assets, and not acquiring new software assets unnecessarily

Key Skills:

  • Proven demonstrable experience in Software Licence Management as a subject matter expert
  • This role is aligned to the ITIL framework, therefore ITIL v3 (or later) qualified to Service Transition Lifecycle/Capabilities (Intermediate Level) or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of Software Licence risk management
  • Experienced team leader/manager
  • Lead the function as a subject matter expert as part of a hybrid delivery model
  • Excellent commercial and service negotiation skills
  • Understanding of mainframe and distributed systems environments
  • Good understanding & experience of using CMDB and Service Management tools such as Assyst, Remedy, etc
  • ITIL v3 (or later) qualified to Manager/Expert level or equivalent experience
