Java Technical Lead - AWS, Java 9, Kubernetes Terraform
One of the world's leading travel companies is looking for a Java Technical Lead to take ownership of a new project and the team delivering it. The team will be working as part of a transformation, working heavily with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes and Terraform to rebuild their system for scale.
The Java Technical Lead will guide a team of Senior Java Developers, DevOps Engineers and QAs through the full project life-cycle. Alongside two other new teams, you will initial move through an R&D phase to help define a new architectural approach focused on event driven microservices and then use this approach to rebuild business critical systems.
The company are looking to take full advantage of the AWS platform SNS, API Gateway, Lambda and the like to build for scale. You will become intimately familiar with the AWS stack and work closely with the DevOps engineers to implement infrastructure as code and true continuous delivery to ensure teams can move quickly whilst maintaining the best engineering standards.
This position suits an experienced Java Technical Lead with prior knowledge of scalable cloud infrastructure (any public cloud is fine), microservices architecture and some exposure to DevOps. You will be driven by ownership of deep technical challenges more than anything else and whilst capable of, and experience in, leading, happy to perform a role split between architecture/design, leadership and hands on engineering.
In return, the team are offering a basic salary between £80,000 and £95,000 depending on experience with a 10% bonus, £2k training, full health and dental, 6% unmatched pension and 27 days holiday. The company is well known in London for high-calibre engineering and there is a clear route towards Principal Engineer in 12- 18 months where you will perform a more architectural roles across multiple projects.
