Financial Accountant

Swindon

£45,000 - £50,000

Robert Half are pleased to be working in Partnership with a leading Swindon based company as a Financial Accountant. The role is responsible for helping the business to achieve its operational objectives and ensuring that it delivers a high quality and cost-effective service

Finance's deliverables are:

  • Maintain accurate and timely Financial Records
  • Maintain a strong control environment
  • Support preparation of reports, budgets & forecasts and provide financial analysis
  • Support the wider business in making right-minded, commercial decisions and in controlling costs
  • Prepare Statutory Accounts, manage the relationship with the external auditors and report to the Audit Committee
  • Prepare regulatory returns and tax computations, ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation and regulations. Manage relationship with HMRC & FCA
  • Manage the Group's cash flow, and provide relevant information to stakeholders
  • Promote positive customer and supplier relationships
  • Demonstrate flexibility by responding to internal customer requests in a positive and timely manner
  • Act with responsibility, integrity and professional objectivity

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Meet daily, weekly, monthly and annual targets for providing data to other teams and departments
  • Completion of month-end processes within three working days
  • Meet statutory and regulatory reporting deadlines, ensuring data is correct.
  • Support of other teams and departments to enable them to meet deadlines
  • Achieve a high level of accuracy in work completed

RELATIONSHIPS

Internal

  • Report to Head of Reporting and provide support to Chief Financial Officer
  • Support and work closely with Reporting, Business Partnering and MI teams
  • Other functional key personnel
  • Internal auditors

DECISION MAKING

  • Support decision making of senior management personnel.
  • Exercise judgement regarding when to escalate potential risks, concerns or queries to Head of Reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Experience of Microsoft Dynamics GP advantageous
  • Experience of working in a financial accounting role within a large organisation preferable
  • Experience of cash reconciliation useful

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Awareness of market and financial risk
  • Understanding of accounting in a business environment
  • Understanding the nature of the business and its services and how these relate to resulting income and expenses

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Professional manner; enthusiastic and positive attitude
  • Flexible attitude; willing to support team members with cover and assistance
  • Able to build relationships with other business areas and external stakeholders
  • Numerate with strong analytical skills; strong Excel skills.
