Are you an experienced Cloud Engineer looking for a fantastic challenge?

Over the past 2 years my client has been on one of the most visionary digital transformation journeys of any company within Financial Services and they continue to move towards being a “Digital First” organisation.

My client’s strategic platform for hosting is based on Amazon Web Services Cloud environment, of which they currently have a Legacy environment (Native) and strategic environment (Direct).

The platforms operate 24 x 7 and therefore demands high degrees of flexibility and resilience.

Specifically, to this role;
    • Working with the cloud operations team to deliver operational capability of the Cloud environment.
    • Work closely with Supplier Management to drive the right outcomes.
    • Manage risks including technical, design, supplier, commercial, security, audit and operational.
    • Work with Architecture, Consumers and Platform Development communities to ensure effective design, implementation and handover of features to operations.
    • Work with community and the third-party teams to identify and resolve problems with the services and support the resolution of problems in dependent services.
    Key aspects of the role:
      • Complete Cloud Platform Operational reviews to ensure that it remains fit for purpose; monitored, resilient, recoverable, maintainable, operated, secure etc.
      • Manage change ensuring communications to affected parties and the relevant documentation/process changes are in place and maintained.
      • Process ownership of operational effectiveness testing.
      • Own, manage and document any risks including but not limited to audit and security.
      • Day to day operational supplier management.
      • Ensure that all change is managed to avoid un-planned service outage, this change could be internal or external driven. This needs to align with IT Change Control framework. To work with suppliers on investigation, communicate and the remediation activities from failed change activity.
      • To manage demand into the team and represent the team to our consumers/stakeholders.
      • To support consumers in incident resolution and co-ordination with external suppliers.

      • Manage the Cloud Platform maintenance to ensure that it remains fit for purpose.
      Skills / Experience Required:
        • Exposure to Agile/Feature/Platform teams.
        • Service management, Release and Change management processes and tools.
        • Relevant financial services industry experience.
        • ITIL Foundation, or relevant experience.
        • AWS Certification(s).
        • Experience of working in a complex technical team.
        • Work with and manage third party suppliers.
        • Experience and understanding of the Cloud operating environment.
        • Skilled or have significant admin exposure at an enterprise level with the following supported operating systems;
        • Redhat Linux 7.x
        • Windows server 2012 R2 and 2016
        Exposure to vulnerability patching for both Windows and Linux operating systemsScripting experience; one or more of Python, PowerShell, cloud formation, bash, terraformTooling experience; Jenkins, PuppetAWS CLI, IAM and Security groupsExposure to Squid Proxy or other similar technologySkills in Network operations;
        • DNS
        • Firewalls and/or AWS security groups
        • Routing
        • NACLS, NAT
        • Active Directory
