Health and Safety Executive
£50,322 - £56,778

The role

We are currently going through an interesting period of change as we embark on modernising our IT capabilities to enable business transformation. We are therefore seeking an experienced Architect to define and deliver our technology strategy and enterprise architecture. As a member of the Chief Technology Officer’s team, you will scrutinise our current IT assets, maintaining and developing application and system architectures. You will also offer your guidance on technology roadmaps and the investments we need to make in IT in order to continue providing a high-quality digital infrastructure that underpins all HSE activities. Working with key stakeholders to understand their application requirements, you will endeavour to identify cost-effective solutions to our business needs.

Experience required

With experience of working on complex IT infrastructure as an Application/Solution Architect, you will have a background in enhancing existing IT assets and delivering new solutions. Committed to delivering exceptional customer service, you will therefore have a good knowledge of the Microsoft applications and services stack, plus architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and Zachman. Confident in developing systems and applications architecture including roadmaps, strategies, architectural standards and patterns, you will also be fluent in designing enterprise applications. It would be useful if you are capable of developing application architecture for interoperable case management/CRM systems, and your experience will ideally be complemented by a degree-level qualification in an IT-related subject. You will also have fantastic communication skills, and you will be a collaborative team-player.

Who we are

As the independent regulator for occupational health and safety, The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) plays an important role in protecting Britain’s employees. With our work affecting every workplace – from the smallest offices to the largest power plants – we see to it that employers are upholding standards. And if they aren’t, then we work with them to ensure those standards are raised, taking action against those who don’t comply. Our work is fast-paced and interesting, and is central to protecting the nation’s workforce from illness, serious injury and death. As such, we can offer a varied and rewarding career path to our people. Committed to ensuring every HSE employee achieves their full potential, we are invested in your future.
