Our client, a leading Commercial Company based in the Hertfordshire area, are currently recruiting for a General Ledger Accountant on a permanent basis. You will have experience of working within a shared service environment recently or currently and have strong exposure to EMEA markets. Also, if you speak another European language (preferably Italian) then this would be desirable but it isn't essential.

Reporting to the EMEA General Ledger Accounting Manager, your duties will include:

  • Updating and maintaining GL accounts for US GAAP & Statutory reporting purposes
  • Balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis
  • The preparation of journal entries to the general ledger
  • Month-end closing activities including submittals of monthly reporting, updating and maintaining month-end/quarter-end/year-end closing schedules
  • Performance of balance sheet and income statement analyses and actuals versus budget
  • The processing of accruals during month-end close
  • Internal controls duties including assisting in internal control reviews for assigned control objectives required by section 404 of Sarbanes-Oxley and assisting in internal and external audit requests as well as the completion of audit-required analyses.
  • Assisting in answering auditing questions and resolves auditing issues

Person Specification -

  • Part Qualified and actively studying towards ACCA or CIMA
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting in Finance is preferred but not essential
  • Fluent or native speaker of another European language - preferably Italian
  • Experience of working within a shared service environment in a large multinational company
  • US GAAP accounting and principle knowledge - this is essential
  • SAP and ERP system experience such as Hyperion - SAP experience is essential
  • Experience identifying and investigating discrepancies in accounting records
  • General ledger accounting experience including accountant analyses and expense analysis
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills for interacting with individual team contributors, business partners, and senior management
  • Strong analytical and problem solving background
  • Experience in process and project management skills
  • Experience identifying and investigating discrepancies in accounting records
