Job Purpose:To control the day to day audit work typically on the firm’s larger and riskier audits, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met. Flag up issues and concerns to the Audit Manager at an early stage. To manage some of the firm’s smaller audit ensuring a high-quality Audit service.The Audit Assistant Manager will be responsible for (but not limited to):

Preparation, supervision and review of audit working papers and production of a comprehensive and complete audit file.Plan the work and take responsibility for managing the process through to submission of the completed file to the Audit Manager / Audit Responsible Individual.Co-ordinate a review of the tax computations and provisions with the Tax team.Maintain an up to date technical knowledge of Audit and Financial Reporting and related matters.Oral and written communication with clients ensuring compliance with the relevant statutory requirements.Meet deadlines within the allocated budget.Monitor the Audit compliance position using Audit software, keeping internal control records up to date and ensuring compliance with quality control procedures.Mentor and train more junior Audit team members.Delegate work to more junior team members.Liaise with the client service team and with colleagues in the Tax Group to provide a co-ordinated service to the client.Get involved on project work related to client portfolio and other ad hoc projects as they arise.Be a principal contact with smaller clients on day to day Audit matters and work with RIs and managers on larger clientsWith regards to any audits where the audit assistant manager will act as manager, ensure that:
Audit work is dealt with on a timely basis in line with agreed policies and procedures including full review of audit documentationAudit planning is done and carried out so an effective and profitable audit is doneBusiness improvement opportunities for the client are identified and flagged up to the client at the annual client close-out meeting or in the management letterWork with sector specialists to deliver expertise to the clientDeal with ad hoc client issues as they arise on the client portfolio, all with the support of more experienced colleaguesSupport the audit centre’s business development in the local area.Qualifications:

Educated to Degree level as well as a Professional accountancy qualificationPractical experience managing audit engagements would be an advantagePractical experience of using software systems in the preparation of Audit files, financial statements and audit working papersThe successful candidate will also have good organisational skills and be pro-active in their approach to their work.
