Reporting to the Senior Claims Handler this is an entry level role where you will bring your previous knowledge of claims in any industry or your desire to start a career within medical insurance claims. This is a really interesting and varied role where you will receive full training and support. There is also a further bonus of 10% of your base salary available pa. As a Claims Handler you will be working with an allocated case load of various claims, assisting with and identifying matters relating to each of the claims.


Duties will include;

  • Being a point of contact for the claimant, internal departments and outside agencies associated with the claim
  • Assisting with the validation of financial evidence/documentation and calculating entitlement
  • Assisting with the validation of medical evidence/documentation including liaising with Underwriting where necessary
  • Assisting with the identification and investigation of potential non-disclosure
  • Liaising with claimants, authorised agents and other sources as instructed to satisfy the Society’s claims criterion
  • Dealing with all documentation in a systematic, accurate, professional and timely manner as required, adhering to compliance and Society standards at all times
  • Ensuring all information is recorded to the necessary systems in order to track and report on progress as necessary
  • As directed ensuring that claimants are kept informed of the progress of their claim
  • Ensuring that the Senior Claims Handler is kept informed of the current status of all allocated claims.
  • Assisting with the formulation of decisions to be submitted for final approval with regard to the payment of claims following completion of the validation process.
  • Ensuring all correspondence is responded to within agreed timescales and as requested
  • To be successful in this role you will need to be able to demonstrate;


    Maths and English grade B or equivalent or previous claims experience.

    Numerate with strong attention to detail

    Enjoy following processes from start to a conclusion

    Ability to deal with people in all situations and at all levels in a calm and sympathetic manner

    Proven experience of dealing with people over the telephone

    Experience of working to strict deadlines and targets

    Good IT skills

    Team Player
