The Information Security Operations team is responsible for developing and managing a global service for technical security monitoring and control solutions.

The Security Engineer is accountable for supporting the Global Head of Security Operations through the delivery of a number of agreed services.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, deploying and supporting key security technologies and processes to effectively and demonstrably reduce the level of risk to applications, servers and networks.


  • Implement and manage intrusion detection and prevention platforms.
  • Implement and manage Security Event logging and monitoring platforms.
  • Actively monitor systems for anomalous behaviour.
  • Appropriately and practically defend the enterprise in accordance with established policies, procedures, guidelines and practices.
  • Improvement of overall functional services.
  • Work with key IT and business stakeholders to emphasise security issues.
  • Maintain a forward looking perspective on emerging security and technology developments and their relevance to Business and Technology Strategies.
  • Identify future trends/ requirements in area of expertise, and contributes to the development of new concepts which form part of total business solutions.
  • Initiate change, identifying opportunities for improving the Information Security Operations service and managing the implementation of continuous improvement / new ideas and approaches.
  • Understand and apply industry best practice and innovative thinking, foster knowledge sharing to provide solutions where no precedent may exist, and ensure implementation of solutions where appropriate to enhance and develop processes and best use of technology.
  • Recognise and act pro-actively to exploit future opportunities or to avoid or mitigate future problems/ conflicts.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Strong experience working in IT focusing on information security or IT Security.
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Good technical leadership and team skills including: issue resolution, negotiation, motivating others, forecasting and planning.
  • Ability to manage issues to closure across borders/territories.
  • A university degree in computer science, telecommunications, networking, engineering or another computer-related field, or have sufficient experience in Information Security or IT Security.
  • Because this is a key position within a global team, the incumbent will occasionally be required to attend conference call meetings out of normal office hours. Some national and international travel will be required.
