We are looking for a Full Time Web Developer / Designer in North Manchester

Summary

To contribute effectively to the operation of the company by designing, coding and modifying websites, according to company specifications. Strive to create visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation in a manner which most effectively supports the company’s IT strategy and operation.

The successful candidate will report directly to the IT Manager and work within a structured organization. It is important that the candidate is self-sufficient, able to prioritise work load in all areas of responsibility. This requires a candidate who is pro-active as well as being task orientated to meet the needs of this position.

Essential Skills Criteria:

HTML5, PHP, Laravel, WordPress, CSS / SASS / LESS, JavaScript (jQuery).Mobile up/cross platform development and a good understanding of responsive design,Use of responsive frameworks such as Foundation or Bootstrap.Understanding performance and optimization – we want stuff to look great but load fast too.MVC coding style.An eye for detail (someone who can understand the designer’s pain).Should be able to deliver quality work in tight deadlines, must be presentable, confident and willing to be a part of a growing team.Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills.Experience working in a fast-paced environment.Attention to detail and ability to deliver client projects on-brand and brief within challenging timescales.Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Writing code in one or more programming or scripting languages, such as PHP or JavaScript, CMS (WordPress)Planning and prototyping new applicationsDesigning the architecture of the components of an applicationDeciding on the best technologies and languages for the projectTesting sites and applications in different browsers and environments and fixing bugs in existing projectsTesting new features thoroughly to ensure they perform the correct task in all casesRunning performance benchmarking testsBuilding and testing Application Program Interfaces (APIs) for applications to exchange dataResearching, incorporating and contributing to Open Source projectsGathering requirements from usersLearning and testing new technologies, frameworks and languagesStaying up to date with new trends and advancements in web development and designBuilding and maintaining databasesRefactoring and optimizing existing codeDocumenting code so other developers can understand and contribute to itAttending and speaking at web development conferences and workshopsDesigning information architecture within an application or website.Managing a Web Development or design range of projects for the IT department as well as taking an active part in supporting the IT Manager to deliver other projects.Person Specification

These are the experience, skills and values we require for any applicant or current staff member to be successful in this position. All parts excluding the desirable criteria are essential for success and must be demonstrated.

Requirements for this position include minimum of GCSE (or equivalent) English and Math’s, a degree or relevant qualifications in information technology, together with a significant level of hands-on experience of at least 2 years in Web development and design in a commercial environment.

Due to the nature and location of this role, successful candidates would be required to drive or have access to a car.
