Position Concept
Provision of all round engineering support, maintaining the Operational Assets at the client's site, you should have a detailed understanding of all new or current building services systems and contingency procedures within the buildings, and also complying with the Health & Safety/building codes of practice.
You will be responsible for ensuring that all Engineering Operational activities within the building are controlled and that they are being carried out with due regard to Health and Safety, business risk and maintaining the 100% uptime criteria. You will also be appointed as an HV authorised person for the sites and will champion technical operations compliance at all times.
Responsible for maintaining excellent standards of response to Asset performance, completion of assigned work and ensure any abnormal operating conditions and housekeeping issues are dealt with proficiently.
Working as part of the shift operations team, reporting operationally to the technical supervisor or engineering manager, you will be expected to take a proactive role in the maintenance of the building assets across the clients campus, both through planned maintenance and reactive requests. As the Shift Electrical Engineer you will be key to the effective and continuous availability of the Electrical Services associated with the campus. You will provide electrical support to management in maintaining and fault finding of the assets.
You should gain an understanding of the electrical services within the campus and be able to use this knowledge to assist in system and plant fault identification and rectification. Part of your role will be to assist and carry out as a competent person both controlled and emergency switching of LV and HV systems within the campus.
You will also work with the engineering manager to oversee the Safe Systems of Work, enforce Health and Safety legislation guidelines for the sites and to update when necessary the risk assessments associated for any work related maintenance routines on site.
Duties to include:
Operate and controlling the Permit systems and safe systems of work for the campus.
Operate the PPM system and to update plant records and assets as and when required.
Assist with the operation of the change control system and writing method of procedure documents (Switching Schedules)
To ensure current health and safety legislation is carried out on site.
Ownership of inspection logs for access and lifting equipment to ensure QA processes are maintained and auditable.
To assist in information gathering in conjunction with the team in order to assist with Weekly and Monthly reports ensuring that significant events or activities as well as areas of concern are noted in the report.
Monitor critical areas for cleanliness ensuring plant rooms and equipment are regularly checked, cleaned and maintained.
To assist in the production and construction of the current Risk Assessments, which are used throughout all the client's site facilities/sites.
To ensure quality is maintained throughout the facilities
Ensure that all work is inspected prior to the closure of work permits in conjunction with the engineering team
Supervise, coordinate and manage sub-contractor works and undertake PPM or reactive works in accordance with the agreed timescale, whilst being provided technical support and leadership for the engineering team.
Operate all systems within the buildings in a competent, effective and efficient manner (including LV and HV operations).
Controlling all activities being undertaken within the campus buildings. Liaising with the Site Personnel to make them aware of Specialist Service Provider visits. Assist in the preparation and ensure approval of Access/RAMS/Method of Procedures/Permit to Work in advance of these visits.
Ensure that Specialist Service Provider (SSP) worksheets are signed off where necessary that quality of work has been inspected and recommendations are escalated to the Site Management Team.
Maintain effective shift handovers including critical plant status, plant isolations, issues arising, ongoing works, special task requests, and standard of housekeeping.
Ensure any parts required are clearly and accurately stated and any difficulties encountered on engineering activities are reported to the site management.
Plant areas, workshops, stores, changing/rest areas etc. are kept to the highest level of housekeeping
Ensure with assistance that the SSP comply with the contractual service level agreements (SLA's)

Personal Attributes:
Minimum 5 years' experience in Building Services industry
Ideally HV Authorised Person.
C&G Pts. 1 & 2, equivalent or exceeds.
Confined Space entry trained / AP (Where required)
17th Edition IEE: Wiring and Installation.
C&G 2391 test and inspection (preferred).
Strong communication skills.
Demonstrate a good understanding and be technically competent in all building services, in particular UPS, Generators, Static Switches, Water Treatment, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
Ability to work as an individual as well as within an engineering team.
Proactive in achieving the highest standard of operation.
Have adequate IT skills in order to operate CMMS, change management and reporting systems.
