We are seeking to appoint a 1.0 FTE Principal Teacher. The successful candidate will be part of the management team of the St Columba's RC Primary and Brydekirk Primary partnership this offers a step into management within a supportive and innovative ethos where the child most certainly is at the centre of our endeavours. The creation of a shared management structure across two schools has given rise to this exciting opportunity.

The successful candidate can expect excellent opportunities for further professional development and the support of colleagues. We benefit from valuable links with our local community and church parish.
We are looking for a creative and innovative teacher to take forward the exciting developments around outdoor play / learning and become a leader of learning and teaching.

There are three classes within a small school ethos yet supported by a nurturing team of staff, parents and partners. Our school motto is Live, Love, Learn.

In line with Section 21 (2A) of the Education Scotland Act 1980, the successful candidate of this post will require to have the approval of the Roman Catholic Church. Applicants are advised that it is their responsibility to obtain such approval, and this must be done at the same time as submitting the application form. Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
