Job Title: SQA Engineer

Reporting To: Purchasing Manager

Location: Birmingham (Travel to other site also required)

Company: 1st Tier Automotive Supplier

Salary: From £35,000 Upwards Depending On Experience

Job Purpose

To control the quality aspects of incoming goods to the company collecting data and using the data to drive supplier development activities. This role is a liaison between the company and its suppliers, maintaining and improving on Quality.

Role of Department

To continually improve activities in support of the development of the Company offering to the market place and existing customers to strengthen the business and intellectual capability. To drive a philosophy of defect prevention rather than inspection thus negating the need for on-going 100% incoming inspection or audit sampling techniques.

Key Responsibilities

Management, co-ordination and monitoring of the status of all supplier quality concerns maintaining an up-to-date register utilising the 8d methodology.

Ensure all quality requirements of TS 16949 are adhered to and support all aspects of system auditing; providing necessary support to systems manager.

Work closely with programme management teams to support the smooth transfer of new products into production in relation to supplied in product

Achievement of annually agreed objectives and quality action plan

Management and control of all supplier quality impacts of part quality covering RMA process and quarantine cage co-ordination/management and reporting.

Work with purchasing to deliver supplier contracts which detail all possible consequential costs.

Identify manufacturing process costs savings primarily through identification of over-processing or over-inspection.

Identify all consequential costs in addition to RMA to enable eventual cost claims

Keep your area of work clean and tidy at all times. Adhering to the standards of the 5s housekeeping audit, therefore minimising risk to products and employees.

Ensure that you understand and comply with Health & Safety at work Regulations at all times.

Report all accidents, potential near miss/risk situations and defective equipment using the agreed procedure and wear Company issued PPE without fail.
