We are looking for an experienced general insurance pricing analyst to join a leading insurance group.

In this varied role, you'll be responsible for delivering benefits using a range of analytical techniques such as price optimisation for renewals, delivering innovative projects to improve capability as well as tactical changes to manage business performance for both new business and renewals. Achieving this involves working closely with other areas of Pricing & Underwriting and the wider business, as well as supporting interactions with the Partners directly.

Due to the expansion of the team we are looking to add an experienced analyst operating at senior level to take the next step towards management.

As a Principal Analyst you'll be taking ownership of significant pieces of work, as well as taking a leading role in developing other analysts within the team.

The role will involve analysis and statistical support to make decisions on the pricing of existing products as well as exploring new partnership opportunities, so there will be a variety of work, with a focus on leading projects and mentoring teams.

What being a Motor Partners Pricing Principal Analyst involves:

  • Providing analysis and appropriate change recommendations in support of new business and renewal pricing across brand partners.
  • Provide analytical support and insight to inform and influence business decisions and strategy, with a responsibility for ensuring robustness of output.

  • Develop accurate pricing models and ensure their appropriate use and application.
  • Analyse trading performance and monitor controls, including producing & analysing tactical MI, and deliver recommendations to support the trading objectives. Identify gaps in existing MI and deliver improvements.
  • Plan, manage and deliver specific tasks and projects in a pro-active, timely and accurate manner, providing insights, impacts and recommendations; lead specialised investigations, producing reports and presentations for internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with core Group Policies, statutory and regulatory requirements, governance controls (including all relevant risk minimum standards) and timely completion of risk and audit actions. Ensure reputational risk is minimised.
  • Interact effectively with peers in other areas of the business to improve knowledge share and understand impacts of your work across the wider business. Ensure learnings are effectively communicated across the team. Liaise regularly with stakeholders to ensure objectives are aligned across functions.
  • Provide pricing assistance in respect to other partner products as required to help manage priorities and share relevant knowledge and expertise.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to enable tasks to be performed in a more efficient manner. Challenge current processes appropriately with suggestions as to how these can be refined.
  • Develop knowledge of P&U systems and processes; develop your business, market knowledge and awareness of relevant industry issues which impact your area & incorporate in the work that you do.

Skills & qualities you'll need:

  • Experience within a similar actuarial, pricing or statistical role in the financial services industry.
  • Ideally Personal Lines Pricing experience
  • Evidence of demonstrating personal effectiveness in prior roles.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in mathematics or a related degree
  • Coding skills in SAS (or similar)
  • Knowledge of EMBlem and/or optimisation software such as Radar or Earnix is preferable but not essential.
