The background

The role is part of the UK Life Financial Reporting Consolidation team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced accountant to join our team in York. You will be responsible for supporting the IFRS and Solvency II financial reporting and helping in delivering system and process improvements. By using your business and systems knowledge alongside financial reporting expertise you will produce reporting deliverables for internal and external partners and lead on system and process requirements.

The Team

UK Life Consolidation team is responsible for the IFRS and Solvency II feeding into the Aviva Group Reporting, as well as the regulatory reporting to the Prudential Regulatory Authority (PRA). Understandably Information fed into statutory accounts and management for decision-making purposes must be timely and accurate to avoid potential financial losses, regulatory breaches and reputational issues in the marketplace.

The Person

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate business and financial acumen and is able to plan and prioritise a varied workload within challenging deadlines and a consistent track record of delivering to time and quality. You will have a strong mix of relationship management and technical accounting skills. The role requires effective communication and relationship building across the organisation as you work collaboratively with a number of teams to manage your internal and external deliveries. Ownership of outputs and the ability to identify and lead change opportunities is also very important.

Duties & Responsibilities

Supporting production of reporting cycles and delivering IFRS results to Group in addition to quarterly Solvency II requirementsProviding expertise to develop and enhance existing financial reporting processes to improve the efficiency and quality of team outputs and in particular enhance the control environmentSupporting production of annual and semi-annually reporting requirements including group and local statutory accounts, regulatory reporting and tax analysis in addition to liaising with external auditorsTake responsibility for ad-hoc analysis, projects and reporting requests including working with the other operations team, senior management and external partiesMaintaining an effective control environment including evidencing compliance with Financial Reporting Control Framework principlesResponsible for liaising with internal & external audit teams and Financial Reporting Control Framework teams on relevant queries.Skills & Experience required

Qualified accountant with relevant post qualification experienceSound knowledge of finance reporting processes and architectureExcellent analytical skills and pro-active drive to get behind changes/movementsExperience in a financial reporting role within financial services would be advantageousExperience of working to tight deadlines in a demanding environmentGood leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with other areas of the businessStrong excel and analytical skillsKnowledge of IFRS, Solvency II and experience of preparing statutory accounts would also be beneficialThe Key Behaviours we need you to demonstrate are
