CNC Service Engineer
Cambridge, Peterborough, Bury St Edmonds
Responsible to: Service Manager
Purpose of the role:
To provide support on site to customers and keep their machines running in a timely and efficient manner. This will include commissioning, servicing, fault finding and repairs. The work will involve working at customer's premises.
Commissioning of machines.
Carrying out routine service work, overhauling and replacing parts according to service schedules.
Calibrate machines to keep them within the manufacture's tolerances.
Fault finding and fixing faults, this may include ordering replacement parts.
Writing detailed reports (nature of fault, parts replaced, worked carried out, time travelling and on site etc).
Fitting ancillary equipment (DRO's, power drawbars, etc)
Fitting company systems on new or used machines
Keeping the service manager informed on progress
Responding immediately to requests to visit customers in the field
Any other duties that may be required within your capabilities
Attend training courses as and when required.
Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles including bearings, pulleys, motors, gears, lubrication etc.
Basic electrical knowledge to include measuring voltage, current and reading an electrical diagram.
Arrive at each customer on time
Be clean and tidy wearing the provided uniform
Be polite and courteous as you are the "face" of the company whilst on site
Keep the customer informed of your progress
Refer the customer to the service manager if the customer has any issues.
Leave the work area clean and remove any unused parts and rubbish
Record your start and finish time accurately and parts used.
Abide by all Health and Safety regulations.
Be responsible for their own travel and accommodation requirements.
Keep clean and maintain their company vehicle in line with manufacturer's guidelines
