Foundation Phase 1:1 Teaching Assistant, Newport

A local learning community primary school is looking for a Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with pupils in the Foundation Phase. This role is to commence as soon as possible, is full time and on a long term basis. Initially the role is confirmed until July 2018 and will be reviewed for continuation into the new school year, subject to funding.
The school is one form entry, has approximately 200 pupils and is fully committed to educating the whole child. The Head Teacher has a clear vision and all staff ensure that the environment that is fun, friendly and focused on instruction and learning.
As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you will be working to support children on an individual basis and supporting the class teacher. It is essential that you will develop a good bond, and working relationship with the child, as a means of supporting the child to stay focused and on task. Through a focus on differentiated instruction you will support children in making positive behaviour choices.
Your bond and rapport with the individual child will assist you in effectively managing their behaviour. You will support the child in feeling secure and confident, giving them the ability be able to express any issues that they may have, using positive reinforcement and praising the child where appropriate. You will monitor the child's progress, both in relation to behaviour, and learning development, feeding back to the class teacher accordingly.

The right person for this role will need to have;
- Relevant and proven experience and an excellent understanding of working with primary age children
- Level 2 or above Childcare qualification
- Good behaviour management skills
- Excellent rapport-building, interpersonal and communication skills
- A genuine passion for working with children and enhancing learning and development
- A dedicated and committed approach to the role, with a good work ethic
