A large, mainstream primary school in the Caerphilly area are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to provide support on a 1:1 basis. The role is to commence in June 2018 (after half term) on a full time basis, and is confirmed until July 2018 in the first instance.
This school caters to pupils from a mixed catchment area and have just over 300 pupils aged 3-11 years. As a Teaching Assistant you will be working on a 1:1 basis to support a pupil with delayed development. The tasks will be planned, delivered and directed by the class teacher - however you may need to plan and implement IEPs that are more appropriate for the child. In your role, you must be able to provide addition support for the pupil's individual needs and be able to adapt your support methods accordingly.
The right person for this job will be committed to providing excellent care for the child's needs, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This will be extremely important in building good working relationships with the pupils, which you will use to effectively manage their behaviour, and to ensure that they remain on task at all times. It will also be important that you can communicate and build rapport effectively with the class teacher. You will need to work together to create and maintain a positive learning environment where the pupil feel inspired to achieve.
In order to apply for this position you will need to be;
- A level 2 (or above) qualification in childcare
- Experienced in supporting the delivery of the curriculum within a mainstream classroom environment
- Genuinely enthusiastic in nature - Able to build good working relationships with others
- Able to apply appropriate behaviour management techniques to keep children focused
- Able to provide satisfactory and relevant references and documentation.
