Release and Deployment Manager

Location: South West of England

Duration: 6-12 months [initially]

EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY: Sopra Steria is currently recruiting for a Release and Deployment Managerto join a new team, based on site at a key Government customer in the South West of England.

The team will be involved in providing a solution to deliver secure access to information services for users across various locations in the UK and overseas, providing a configurable network that has a single sign-on.

This contract is for an initial six to twelve months, with the option to extend for at least another twelve beyond that.

On client’s instructions, due to the urgency, nature and length of the assignment, the successful candidate must have current security clearance to a high level.


The main responsibility of the Release and Deployment Manager is to coordinate and facilitate the deployment of tested and evaluated customer developed releases from the production environment to the Operations, by ensuring that the sequence of event during a release process are run properly. Other responsibilities include:

·Writing, updating and support the development of Deployment policies and procedures and reviewing their implementation for the organisation;

·Manage all aspects of the end to end implementation of customer processes and procedures;

Plan the deployment in conjunction with change and knowledge management and service asset and configuration management;Ensure that customer deployment controls are documented and well understood;Responsible for the final physical delivery of the service implementation, ensuring that a detailed deployment plan has been documented along with a roll-back plan;Ensure that every customer product has been correctly integrated across the program;Validate that the product has been correctly packaged before deployment and ensure that all release controls have been satisfied;Work with various departments and appointed Lead User to deploy the product successfully;Support the development of the Information Services Assurance Plan (ISAP) outlining the support model for customer servicesCoordinate release documentation and communications for all customer capability releases;Release the pre-planned communications about the capability release.Provide guidance and support throughout the deployment process, including known errors and workarounds;Responsible for providing feedback on the effectiveness of the release to Programme; Identify root cause for deployment-related downtime and participate in after-action reviews for production deployment activities;ESSENTIALS SKILLS

·The Release and Deployment Manager ideally requires a Technical Bachelor’s level qualification in an IT or related field and/or several years of experience in release engineering;

·Formal qualifications project management practices preferably PRINCE2 and Agile;

·Ability to rapidly assess the risks and impacts associated with a change in plans;

·Understanding of the tools that are used to automate deployments;

·Advanced written and verbal communication skills.


·Experience of deployed Operational Service Management;

·Experience of working on multi mission domains on Deployed Military CIS

·Knowledge and experience of the customer capability Introduction and the Release and Deployment processes.
