£35000 - £45000 basic salary
Location: Central London
Hours: Normal working hours

This is an exceptional opportunity to enhance your career within facilities services working for a leading FTSE250 FM Outsourcing business. A Building Services Design Engineer is required to work closely with the Minor Works Manager as a key member of the minor works projects team to develop mechanical and electrical design solutions for projects and structures within the scope of the contract.

Main responsibilities:

To work on own initiative and required to supervise trainees & technicians

  • To be able to lead and manage small packages of work, Principal responsibilities and accountabilities
  • Liaise with other team members in a multi-disciplinary environment to achieve holistic building solutions to the client brief
  • Design and specify aspects of building services in accordance with current guidelines, standards and regulations
  • Produce project estimates and formal quotations as required
  • Maintain a knowledge of current issues related to general construction and specifically building services guidelines, standards and regulations
  • Undertake all actions identified in design review
  • Undertake design for a wide range of project types and sizes
  • Take a flexible approach to the delivery of design solutions
  • Communicate with the departmental management to ensure that resource requirements are clearly understood
  • Participate in knowledge sharing across team and locations
  • Keep up to date with design trends/competitor awareness /design techniques
  • The role will be based in the clients Central London HQ Building but you may occasionally be required to assist with and or run small projects in small number of the clients other buildings

Experience and qualifications required:

  • Technically qualified from an approved/registered Higher Education College University Course as set out by the Engineering Council and a Professional body
  • Qualified in a Building Services discipline
  • Financial awareness & previous experience of managing a project budget
  • Customer care/relationship building skills (internal & external clients)
  • Proven ability to manage change successfully
  • Excellent understanding of Health and Safety with a minimum of IOSH Certification
  • Demonstrable experience in building Services projects/design roles
  • Familiar with standard MS Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Able to work well as part of a highly motivated team
