Plant Layout Engineer (Constructability)
The Plant Layout Engineer assists the building leader in the technical coordination, production and monitoring of layout engineering studies for one or more buildings by proposing technical solutions. This role will have a particular focus on building constructability and will require studies on installation, handling and maintainability of equipment.
Layout and Equipment Installation
Carries out layout engineering or makes proposals to improve the layout.
o Lays out the various mechanical and electrical equipment.
o Assesses the method of installation for equipment and constructability
Study of the handling equipment required for installation and maintenance
Writes the related technical documents (progress report, change impact analysis, erection area drawings.).
Issues the layout drawings to the various teams and coordinates their layout activities by ensuring compliance with the layout rules.
Liaises with the client during building constructability reviews
Progress monitoring and change management
Manages and monitors the modifications requested by the various engineering teams.
Anticipates and raises alerts on open technical points.
Regularly carries out layout engineering reviews (with all the engineering teams involved).
Prepares a regular status report on the model in the light of the latest input data.
The candidate should possess good interpersonal and stakeholder management skills. They should have the ability to take a strategic view, the ability to meet commitments and deadlines. They will be required to write clearly-expressed and well-presented reports and apply logical thinking.
Our client is responsible for providing Engineering Design support for Hinkley Point C.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree qualified in appropriate technical discipline.
Experience in one or several areas of engineering: piping engineering, mechanical, HVAC, safety etc.
Good knowledge and understanding of general layout rules for an industrial project
Knowledge of the general operation of a nuclear power station and the associated safety aspects (in particular, aspects relating to flooding, fire, radiological protection, high energy line ruptures, etc.).
Site experience for installation of equipment, HVAC ducts, pipework, cables trays
Good knowledge and understanding of handling equipment
Microsoft Word/Excel. Autocad 2D and Navisworks software (consultation).
