Trainee/Apprentice Design Engineer (Mechanical)

£10,000 - £12,000 Basic Salary

My client is a world leader within their industry and have an immediate vacancy for a Trainee/Apprentice Design Engineer, based in Swadlincote, UK.

You will be part of my clients Design team. The successful candidate will have an engineering background and a ‘hands on, can do’ approach in bringing gangway and related projects from concept through to production both individually and as part of a team.

Full in house training will be given for this varied job role. Prior knowledge of Inventor and/or AutoCad or any other CAD programmes would be advantageous.

During the early part of the apprenticeship the successful person would spend a proportion of their time assisting with practical works with in the various different in-house departments to gain an understanding of the products that they will be CAD drawing & engineering.

The right candidate may over time and having gained experience in assisting with the day to day processing of CAD drawings, administration and management of projects (order processing) become a valued member of my clients Design Engineering department working on major projects with significantly enhanced salary potential.

Qualifications required:

A Level, Pass Grade or above or equivalent qualifications in at least one of the following listed subjects:

  • Maths
  • English
  • Technical Drawing
  • Information Technology.
  • Science (ideally ‘Physics’)
  • Craft Design & Technology
  • Computer Aided Drawing (CAD)

Things to consider:

From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training
